From Complexity to Coherence: UNB Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering on University of New Brunswick’s Fredericton campus occupies eight buildings spanning 125 years of campus history. In 2024, we began an incremental plan to make that complex facility work as one.

Audits, consultation, and analysis exposed underused rooms, poor daylight, accessibility gaps, and difficult wayfinding. The plan works with the buildings rather than starting over. It would renew 43% of the Head Hall Complex as linked precincts for teaching, research, making, and community. A seven-phase roadmap aligns the work with budgets, infrastructure, logistics, and fundraising. It turns a collection of buildings into a coherent plan for engineering education.
