Learning through Simulation: Patient Care Laboratories at Durham College

Durham College’s 20,000-square-foot Patient Care Laboratories let healthcare students practise before they enter clinical settings. Realistic simulations build skills, confidence, and judgement without putting patients at risk.

The facility sits within the LEED Gold Centre for Collaborative Education. Nursing labs, research areas, offices, and support rooms form one integrated learning environment. Students assess vital signs, administer medication, and practise wound and IV care in spaces modelled on the settings they will encounter as health care providers.
