A Destination for an Academic Community: Loyalist College Field House 

At Loyalist College’s Belleville campus, the proposed Field House is intended to bring athletics, Indigenous studies, recreation, events and outdoor learning together at the campus’s eastern edge.

The concept treats building and landscape as one welcoming sequence. The Seven Grandfather Teachings—wisdom, love, respect, bravery, honesty, humility and truth—shape seven distinct moments in the landscape. An outdoor classroom, event grounds, recreation areas and informal gathering places extend learning beyond the building. The campus gateway becomes a destination in its own right: a place where sport, culture, education and community meet.
