Designed as a bridge between industry and students, the LEED® Gold-certified Centre for Collaborative Education (CfCE) at Durham College reflects the college’s commitment to collaborating with local business and community partners.

A vital component of the CfCE the 20,000 sq. ft. Patient Care Laboratories, a state-of-the-art simulation and training environment that advances patient-centred, inter-professional healthcare education. The laboratories provide nursing labs, research, office, and support spaces, and are equipped with patient simulators that allow students to develop practical skills in areas such as vital signs assessment, medication administration, wound care, and intravenous initiation and maintenance.

The five-storey, 80,000 sq. ft. Centre for Collaborative Education houses a range of light-filled, flexible spaces designed to support diverse programs and student needs. Active learning classrooms, a spa suite, and accelerator spaces foster collaboration, innovation, and experiential learning while strengthening connections between students, industry, and the broader community.

The Patient Care Laboratories project involved the fit-out of space within the Centre for Collaborative Education, originally designed by Architecture Counsel in joint venture with MSA.
