Durham College / Capacity Study and Massing Plan Simcoe Building
Enrolment projections at Durham College foresee the current student population increasing 24% by 2020 and 55% by 2030. In order to address the expanding regional population and diversifying economy, the new Simcoe Building will provide capacity to address existing space deficits and support enrolment growth at the North Oshawa Campus.
The building will include new classrooms, laboratories, learner support space, an entrepreneurial centre, an administrative centre, and a main commercial centre for the campus and community. A primary principle of this project was a focus on increased density (within the limits of being on a flight path) and pedestrianization of the campus.
Location: Oshawa, Ontario
Project Size: 40,000 m2
Estimated Construction Cost: $150,000,000
